Rumble in the Tummy

Last night (and as it turns out, a good deal of early this morning) I was at a Hen’s Night / Bachelorette party (depending which country you are from, you will probably know this as one of these two terms) which was quite entertaining. There are a few things from that which could be shared and are G-rated but I suspect that some of it is only funny if you were there too. Except the Naked Magicians. They would be funny even if you weren’t there. “Good magicians don’t needs sleeves. Great magicians don’t need pants.” They were not G-rated.

I think I have just caught up on sleep. My brain seems to have finally engaged. The delay could be lack of fuel since I had a rather late breakfast / lunch or early dinner at around 3.30pm. I like my meals to have names and a meal at this time of the day seems to be name free unless it’s afternoon tea which for me, would mean that I had tea and something sweet.
I had neither.
I’ve been thinking about calling this meal “blunner” though that sounds like some kind of disease. A toasted cheese, ham and tomato sandwich with an apple juice and some water should not be associated with a disease. That seems wrong and somewhat disrespectful.

I had missed today’s meals at the normal times as it took me that long to peal myself off the couch after taking the dog for a walk. It was a struggle as the couch had perfectly melded to my body. It and I were as one. I slept. I read. I napped. I read. I rolled over. I repeated all of this except for the sleeping since I was worried that I may not be able to sleep this evening.
I have a rule for myself that I must talk with someone at least once per day. Really talking, not Facebook chatting, whatsapp messaging etc. There’s a couple of reasons why I do this. One is because outside is where things happen not inside by myself. Though there is reading… It’s also because it’s very easy for me to be anti-social (may seem weird for anyone that knows me but I do like time to myself without people) and I could do this for a long time.
If I was to do this though, I’m likely to have an excess of energy and a lot of things that I want to tell people which would all come out in some sort of free-associating order that only I would be able to follow as the links are tenuous at best. Even then, that may be a stretch. It’s a double-edged sword for me so I have this rule to make sure I have some balance.
It was partly this that helped me move off the couch. And because my stomach grumbled and woke up the dog.
There’s a new restaurant that’s opened near me (restaurants open and close all the time due to the ever-increasing rent) which was where we ordered the pizzas when I was given the keys to my new place. I’d been told the pasta there was good so I figured I’d try there for lunch (or blunner as it were).
I was greeted by another Australian and we had a bit of a chat while I went through the menu and decided I didn’t want pasta. I placed my order and settled in with my kindle as there weren’t many people in there to watch.
She brought me out what looked like an orange juice. Now I know there’s a big juicing craze / fad / whatever phase going on at the moment so I thought this could be some kind of fancy-pants apple juice. I asked. It wasn’t and it was replaced.
I was given the most nicely presented toastie in the history of the world. It was on a Jamie Oliver style plank and decorated with some greenery. It was an open toastie so not really what I was expecting. I had more in mind the kind that’s made using a Breville rather than a grill. Anyway, it was good. Turns out that toasties are a fad at the moment too. This probably explains the presentation. I am old school for my toasties though would dabble with this style again.
Anyway, I read a little more and asked for my bill which was given to me by the guy that tried to take my plank away while I was still eating the last piece of toast. At least he’s keen.
Turns out she has the same name as me. Her name was written on the bill.
I think I’ve met five or so others with this name previously and of those, only one has spelt it the same way.
Now I’ve met another.
I have to go back to that place to let her know as we didn’t get the chance to chat again.
Probably one of the more unusual ways to get repeat business.
I will try the pasta.
