Critic’s Choice

or: Thin and crispy versus fat and soggy?

One of the big questions of our age is “which is better – thin and crispy or pan crust?”

Of course I’m talking about pizza. I find it odd the opposite of “thin and crispy” is “pan” since it should actually be “fat and soggy”.  Not only is that the opposite, a pan pizza is often exactly that. To add to it, I’ve now seen pizza crusts being filled with cheese just in case you haven’t already had a large enough dose of calcium, fats and salt with the rest of your pizza.

i prefer the thinner base for a few reasons:

  • it allows the topping of the pizza to be the feature
  • I can try others’ pizzas since I have enough room in my stomach to try other flavors rather than being full on one slice
  • it is less greasy so anything running down my arm is actually cheese rather than pure oil (of course I eat pizza with my hands or should that be a subject for another post?)

My quest for the thinnest pizza base on the planet continues….
